Balance Clinic
The School of Physiotherapy Balance Clinic specialises in assessment and rehabilitation services for people with dizziness, vertigo, and balance problems. The Clinic works closely with area neurologists, ENT surgeons, and GPs to evaluate people with a variety of conditions including:
- Vertigo
- Inner ear infection dysfunction
- Concussion history of falls
- Neurological conditions including:
- Stroke
- brain injury
- peripheral neuropathy
- Parkinson’s disease
- multiple sclerosis
- Musculoskeletal problems including:
- Back/neck injury
- Ankle, knee, or hip problems
The Balance Clinic also features the state-of-the-art EquiTest® And Balance Master® Systems, the same computerised diagnostic systems used to evaluate astronauts before and after space flight. The School of Physiotherapy is currently the only facility in New Zealand to offer this technology.
All treatment and rehabilitation programmes are highly individualised to meet each client’s unique needs. Rehabilitation programmes may include specialised exercises targeting inner ear function, eye control, reaction time or strength. For clients who live outside the Dunedin area, we are able to work in conjunction with your local physician or physiotherapist to proved treatment recommendations and consultation.
